See you at B&N’s B-Fest!

I’m excited to be participating in B-Fest, Barnes & Noble’s first national teen book festival this weekend! I’ll be back in Philadelphia at the Rittenhouse Square Barnes & Noble at 1805 Walnut Street on Sunday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m.

I’m appearing as part of Adaptive Studios’ B-Creative story development workshop, talking about my writing process for the Silence of Six series. We’ll be giving away ARCs of my new book, Against All Silence, and of course I’m happy to sign copies of the first book, which is now out in paperback.

I hope to see you there!

You will be among the first people in the world to read this book, which will be published in August! Seriously, this is so brand new, I don’t even have copies of it yet! I really really really really hope you like it. I also hear there will be some special, limited-edition giveaways at this event, but I’m not sure if I should say more than that. ;)

If you aren’t at BEA or you miss me there, I will also be crashing the Mass Autographing Session at the SFWA Nebula Weekend at Palmer House on Friday the 13th, from 8 p.m. on. I’ll be happy to sign anything (anything!) if you corner me, but you’ll have to bring your own books!

Stories Within Video Games
Friday 3:00 – 3:50 p.m., Harbor II (Westin)
We’ve advanced far beyond the days of Frogger and Tetris. Today’s video games take us into highly evolved worlds with complex characters and storylines. How does the development of the story drive the game? Is “story” ever a distraction from “gameplay?” How does the story within the game shape the characters, sharpen the game’s challenges, and heighten the player’s experience?

Superhero Open Mic
Saturday 9:00 – 10:20 p.m., Marina 1 (Westin)

Kapow! Live from Boskone … enjoy the knock-out stylings of our program participants and audience members who share their open mic skills in the first-ever Superhero Open Mic. Each person gives his/her best 5-minute superhero performance – story, poem, song, skit, interpretive dance, or whatever! OPTIONAL: For extra appeal, feel free to come dressed as a superhero!

The Rules: Boskone members are invited to join our participants in the open mic by signing up for one of the eight open slots at the door to the event, which opens for sign-ups at 8:30 pm. Each performer is given a firm 5-minute time limit (max), including set-up time. So a quick transition between acts is key.

november events

Tonight at 6:30 p.m. I’ll be at Big Blue Marble Bookstore in Philadelphia for Futures and Fairy Tales: A Kaleidoscope of Diverse Adventures with authors Claire Legrand, Sarah Fine, Sarah Raasch, Shveta Thakrar, and Julia Rios (co-editor of Kaleidoscope: Diverse YA Science Fiction and Fantasy Stories).

This event is a stop on the Futures and Fairy Tales book tour, and Claire and the Sarahs graciously agreed to team up with Kaleidoscope for one big night. I’m really looking forward to it! If you’re in the area, please come by. This is probably my last in-person event for 2014!

If you can’t make it, you can also catch me online tomorrow night during a Twitter chat with YA Books Central from 9 to 10 p.m. EST. We will be discussing my new book, The Silence of Six, giving away copies, and taking questions. Follow the hashtag #SilenceofSix to participate!
